Adam Ferguson

Photographer


Adam Ferguson is an Australian photographer whose work is grounded in intimate, humanistic storytelling. Ferguson has worked internationally as a photojournalist for over a decade in conflict zones for Time magazine, National Geographic, The New York Times Magazine, Vanity Fair, and The New Yorker. His work spans portraiture, reportage, and advertising, drawing commissions from Destination Canada, Amazon Studios, UNICEF, Reckitt Benckiser, SBE Entertainment Group, among others.

Ferguson has been the recipient of multiple awards from World Press Photo, Pictures of the Year International, American Photography, Photo District News, Columbia University, and the National Portrait Gallery of Australia. In 2022 Adam was awarded Photographer of the Year at the Sony World Photography Awards for his 'Migrantes' portrait series.

His work has been widely exhibited internationally, including at the National Gallery of Victoria and the National Portrait Gallery in Australia, where he was runner up in the 2022 Award and a finalist for the 2023 Award, the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Festival della Fotografia Etica in Italy, and the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing, among many others.

Ferguson is based between Sydney and New York.
