Photoplay’s longform arm develops and produces smart, bold, commercial and relevant screen stories with quality production values by visionary talent. Stories that move, challenge and entertain their audience. Photoplay’s partnerships on award winning feature films Goldstone (Toronto International Film Festival), Berlin Syndrome (Sundance Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival) and Sweet Country (Venice Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival) speak to this vision.

Our television series for SBS and ABC have been In Competition at CanneSeries (SBS’s It’s Fine, I’m Fine in 2022 and SBS’s Appetite in 2023) while garnering prestigious Rose D’Or Award and C21 International Drama Award nominations (Appetite in 2023 and ABC’s The Disposables in 2024) as well as AACTA Award nominations in Australia for all three series.

We’re developing a slate of scripted projects in film, television and streaming including the only English language series selected for 2024’s Seriesmania Writer’s Campus and 2023’s Content London Drama Series Pitch winner. Our series and films in development include adaptations of best-selling books by authors including 2023’s Miles Franklin Award winner Shankari Chandran as well as Dinuka McKenzie’s popular crime novels. Our development and production partners include Screen Australia, the ABC, SBS, Cineflix Rights, Minderoo Foundation, Screen Queensland and Screen NSW.
